Barrisol translucent provided striking backlit columns for the flagship men’s clothing store ‘4ever Men’ with integrated Apple store at Harbourtown, Melbourne Docklands.
July 9th, 2012
Mark Ciavarella of e+ architecture Melbourne chose Barrisol translucent ‘blanc venus’ to create supersized backlit columns as a feature throughout the store. “We wanted to hide the structural columns within the retail space. Barrisol’s translucent material provided us an opportunity to create fully illuminated ‘glowing’ columns which are juxtaposed against dark colours and materials of stone, tiles and timber’’ remarked Mark.
The store has been arranged to create a ‘maze’ of spaces, continuously exposing new areas and products to be explored as the customer travels through it. The eleven Barrisol translucent columns provide perfectly diffuse blocks of light to guide customers into each zone of the 4Evermen store and through to the Apple store.
A large central feature incorporates the store’s branding and a stunning backlit Barrisol translucent “Roadtrip” print demonstrating the vast possibilities of Barrisol ceilings and walls.
“As the site is situated on the first floor above the main retail spaces of Harbour Town,” Mark of e+ architecture explained, “the new 4ever Men store needed to be a destination rather than part of the journey; linking the Apple store was obviously a coup and major draw card although it was also important the interior fitout was sleek and sexy “. The richness of materials, design and detailing which include the creative use of Barrisol spanning both the 4EverMen and Apple stores works to integrate and tie the spaces together – the perfect compliment to the Apple store and the new kid on the block 4ever Men.
