Drawn to the letterforms and textures of Brett Coelho’s artwork, the designers at bleux were first introduced to his work when he collaborated with Georgia Hawkins at Brendan Wong Design on custom furniture.

Brett is a graduate of graphic design from Swinburne School of Design and for 10 years, he worked as a designer in Melbourne, Sydney and New York. In 2004, he became a full time artist working with found materials and exploring nature as a theme in his art, and is inspired by Rosalie Gascoigne and the boldness of aboriginal art.

“I love spending days roaming around the countryside‚ bartering with local farmers and collecting objects whose colour or texture interest me,” says Brett. “This work is about celebrating the ordinary, finding beauty in the most unlikely of places”

Collaborating with architects and interior designers, Brett brings natural elements and his unique aesthetic of texture and type to contemporary architecture.

Mindful of not simply replicating Brett’s work, bleux are able to offer his designs in a different scale, transparency and mediums. And teaming these finishes with Brett’s actual installations is something that these collaborators are most excited about.
