Arflex has a long and proud history as one of Italy’s foremost furniture design and manufacture companies yet the latest chapter in its story takes place on Australian soil.
Arflex is one of the truly great Italian design stories. From its post-war origins making bespoke, retrofitted car seats for design-savvy Italian19 consumers to its present-day position as a global leader in furniture design and manufacture it’s a story to inspire architects, emerging designers and design consumers alike.
In 2011 Arflex joined the Poliform stable and from July 2020 finds a permanent home in Australia through Space Furniture showrooms across the country. Since launching in 1993 Space Furniture has built a reputation offering iconic and contemporary design for residential and commercial settings alike. With dedicated, architect-designed showrooms in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, Arflex now joins Space’s stable of designer furniture, textiles, lighting and accessories.
“Arflex is a furniture company that is constantly focused on cultural experimentation,” says Christina Owyong, CEO of Space. “Its avant-garde status is based on imposing new technological products that make an ongoing contribution to both design culture and comfort.”
In more than half a century since 1948 when Arflex was founded the company has consistently collaborated with countless iconic and innovative designers such as Ettore Sottsass, Franco Albini, Michele De Lucchi and Neri&Hu.
“Space is proud to continue to represent Arflex’s iconic stable designers, whose incredible products have made a significant contribution to the design lexicon. In Asia Arflex has always been part of the Space stable and we are happy to align our Australian showrooms in 2020,” continues Owyong.
Informed by history and inspired by modernity, Arflex produces outstanding products that push the boundaries of design and materiality.
Arflex is available Australia-wide through Space Furniture.
