Nestled within the energetic suburb of Albert Park is a Victorian-era home that has been transformed into a minimalist, light-filled and contemporary residence. Designed by Modscape, this tranquil oasis is a story where the past meets the present, with a new extension that invites the outdoors in – providing the ideal space for living and entertaining comfortably.
Modscape retained the site’s heritage characteristics in the original portion of the house, which opens and transitions seamlessly from the inside out. This social space is enhanced by a full-height glazing and continuous walls stretching across the residence and out through to the exterior courtyard and pool area. The expansive walls create an internalized backyard, creating privacy in within the busy street, transporting you to an isolated retreat.
Overlooking the outdoor area is the master suite – a large, comfortable space that connects you to the activity outdoors, while relaxing in a secluded room. This bedroom achieves a sense of calm and tranquility through a striking Western Red Cedar screen that softly filters light through its meticulously designed openings to create the perfect environment to unwind.
Designed by Australian company, Screenwood, these custom panels are crafted for privacy and solar efficiency with the external façade benefitting from the warmth and texture of the linear timber slats. The raw, earthy tones of the Screenwood panels bring a softness to the exterior façade of the house, with the outside world only catching small glimpses of light within and ensuring the highest level of privacy for the residences at home.
Screenwood manufactures and supplies superior pre-finished timber modules for internal and external applications. Architecturally designed and exceptionally crafted, Screenwood products provide the utmost efficiency, functionality and service to any project – and the Albert Park Residence does no less. The timeless characteristic of the Screenwood panel creates a refined design throughout the Melbourne home, transporting the individuals to a sanctuary of warmth and connectivity.
