Day Three is a big day for our intrepid traveller…
October 9th, 2009
Day three turned out to be one of my most educational days on the trip! Learning about those brands I see every day in the mags was incredible. They were more than just a brand, they’re companies, mostly family-run, trying to achieve their own sense of design within the competitive bathroom and tile industry.
From this day the stand-outs would have to be Flaminia’s new grey range, ‘Grigio Lava’. A few companies had experimented with new colours, especially mixing black and white and even mixing matt finishes with gloss, but Flaminia’s new grey colour stood out a head above the rest.
‘Grigio Lava’
Devon & Devon was also a definite stand-out One with their complete bespoke offering. The baroque feel invited me on to the stand and made me want to stay a while. I learnt how they offer the complete finish – lights and all!
’Collette’
’Claridge’
’Intarsia’
From the bathroom side of things Fantini’s new Vinezia tap range stole my inner passion for taps! The subtle Swarovski crystal was a beautiful touch. Kohler’s flipside was impressive and highly functional and Guglielmi’s flush shower heads were impressive.
’Vinezia Rosso’
From the tile and ceramic side of the fair Sicis stole the show for me. Can someone please get me one of those high-heel bath tubs! Incredible! Their mosaics were dreamy and the stand was by far the most beautiful and decorative on offer.
’Audrey’
The Florim group was the stand out with their ‘casa dolce casa’ and ’Rex’ brands and one of the largest stands I had come across.

Most memorable would be Cerdomus with their incredible tall and glamorous models handing out the longest stemmed red roses with killer thorns!
What a day! My feet are officially dead but I will walk just a bit further to meet up with a bunch of friends for a gastronomic feast at a good old Bologna restaurant.
Did you know you cannot get one bad meal in Bologna – it is known as the Italian kitchen (Ok I take that back someone did have one bad meal and I know if I didn’t put this in here she would have a go at me so just to clarify there is only one place in Bologna that you can get a bad meal but I am not going to mention the restaurant).
P.S. The Nutellaria is a must! Yes you read correct – think of Gelateria but instead of gelati it is nutella and everything you can imagine related to nutella!!! Hmmm… a new business venture for Oz?
