A Way to Work

The shortlist in The Work Space of this year’s INDE.Awards are definitely the places to be, not just for their function and amenity but for their sheer design brilliance.

A Way to Work

The Work Space shortlist in the 2021 INDE.Awards is an eclectic group, each dynamic and innovative in its own way. Every project has been crafted for people and place, where amenity and functionality are key, but more than the obvious, the designs of these workplaces are inventive and consummate. Every project hits the right note and as a group they are exemplars.

As the supporter of The Work Space, Herman Miller understands the necessity to create products that lead the way in design just as these projects are creating new workplace paradigms for the future.

Mike Radda, Sales Director for Australia and New Zealand, Herman Miller, commented on the shortlist, “Reviewing the projects shortlisted this year highlighted the depth and quality of design work within our region. These projects show us that the design talent across the Indo-Pacific continue to be global leaders. Perhaps most importantly they show that workplace design is now even more important as new workplaces are designed for the new future of work”

As each project has been designed for people, to promote and enhance a working life, they are all very different in design intention and form and Radda reflected, “The design is inspiring as always, and this year the focus on wellness and building community within the workplace standout. At Herman Miller we have seen these two important themes resonate globally and it was great to see their inclusion in the shortlist.”

Radda also nominated a favourite project saying, “Market Lane by Elenberg Fraser is a standout for me. A workplace that incorporates nature, fitness, productivity and leisure is extremely impressive. Having these elements within a workplace is genuinely exciting and is a great example of what workplaces of the future could look like.”

As we seem to work longer hours in a day or a week, we also desire to be in places that contribute beauty and comfort to support us. In this shortlist we see design at its very best with projects that not only inspire but re-imagine a working life.
