Sleek Form Meets Precision Technology In Geberit AquaClean Mera

Designed by Christoph Behling, Geberit’s signature shower toilet Aquaclean Mera is a compact unit with rimless design that offers a seamless bathroom experience.

Sleek Form Meets Precision Technology In Geberit AquaClean Mera

It’s apt that the products in Geberit’s AquaClean shower-toilet family are named after Swiss rivers such as the Mera, which flows through Switzerland to Lake Como in Italy. The shower toilet – a combination of a toilet and bidet – offers the cleanliness and refreshment of a swim or shower thanks to the gentle flow of water from its two retracting shower nozzles.

Designed by Christoph Behling, AquaClean Mera consists of a chrome-finished cantilevered unit supporting a sleek ceramic pan that perfectly conceals the technology behind its quiet operation and luxurious experience. “It was important for us to come up with a design where you can feel all the benefits of the technology without seeing it,” says Behling.

With consideration of the shrinking size of our dwellings, he designed AquaClean Mera to have the smallest possible volume. The chrome cover, however, establishes a sense of distance between the toilet and the wall. “I wanted it to look like the Mera is floating, bringing a sense of lightness to the bathroom,” he says.

Geberit’s patented WhirlSpray shower technology offers a pulsating shower spray (through two nozzles) enhanced by dynamic aeration that saves water in the process. Five shower pressures are offered. The rimless ceramic pan is flushed thoroughly yet extremely quietly thanks to Geberit’s TurboFlush technology, which capitalises on the asymmetrical inner geometry of the pan. The rimless design means there are fewer areas where bacteria and odour can develop. Nevertheless, odour extraction is taken care of by a powerful honeycomb filter.

The research and development behind the exemplary functionality of Geberit’s products is matched by the precision and quality of its production processes. Combining a natural material such as ceramic with precision technology requires careful finessing of the material and repeated inspections throughout the manufacturing process. This is how Geberit ensures both accuracy of form and the ability for the electronic components of its shower toilets to be installed with precision.

The user experience, therefore, is seamless, from the moment you enter the bathroom (guided to AquaClean Mera by a discreet orientation light for night time), to when you approach the toilet (a proximity sensor detecting your presence and opening the lid automatically), to when you feel the warm airflow from the dryer arm (which recognises the last used position of the water spray arm).

Geberit AquaClean Mera is part of the AquaClean family, which also includes AquaClean Tuma, AquaClean Sela, and accessories such as an intuitive remote control, a wall-mounted glass control panel, and a smartphone app for the control of settings.
