Do you have a favourite object or piece of furniture that tells a personal story? A piece that although less than perfect, partly damaged or simply not in use anymore, you’ve kept for its embedded memories and emotional value? Would you be willing to donate your object to be transformed as part of a design workshop with Martino Gamper?
February 4th, 2016
RMIT Design Hub is appealing to the public for materials that will be used in a workshop and a resulting local display that responds to the international touring exhibition 100 Chairs in 100 Days: Martino Gamper at RMIT Design Hub, opening 26 February at the Design Hub.
Renowned for his cross-disciplinary and culturally responsive approach to design, London-based Martino Gamper came to major acclaim with 100 Chairs in 100 Days. In this project, Gamper collected disused chairs from alleyways and friends’ homes and reassembled them — one per day — into poetic and often humorous forms. Shown in Australia for the first time, 100 Chairs in 100 Days: Martino Gamper at RMIT Design Hub is an experiment in transforming limitations into possibilities.
The RMIT Design Hub is calling for workshop materials to be donated in the form of pre-loved objects / small furniture items in relatively good condition that come with a resonant story of their history.
