A night to remember

Head to Ballarat on Saturday 1st June to experience one of the best Australian and global events of the year, White Night Ballarat.

A night to remember

White Night comes to Ballarat on Saturday, June 1st. Be prepared for a night to remember. As with previous iterations of this famed event, White Night Ballarat will offer everyone the opportunity to delight in an experiential offering that will truly immerse the inner city of this historic township.

With art, music, installations, laser shows and projections, film, sculpture and cuisine, the diverse and expertly curated program will fill the streets of Ballarat for six hours from 6pm to 12am. As a free event everyone is welcome, as the community comes together to celebrate and embrace this special occasion.

White Night Ballarat

White Night was inspired by the Nuit Blanche movement and began in Paris. These days dozens of cities worldwide stage the event which first began in Melbourne, Australia in 2013 with an attendance of some 300,00 people. Since then, there have been many successful White Nights, not only in Melbourne but across regional Victoria, and all have achieved great acclaim.

As the second White Night to be held in Ballarat, the first was in September 2017, this White Night will dazzle visitors with a spectacular program that includes music from TEK TEK Ensemble and the amazing Troy Firebrace; projections such as Still Here from the artistic genius of Josh Muir, Tattoo City presented by Accolade.art and Slow Curtain by Lisa Walker; and Transdimensional Biotech, an intriguing video work by Dotahn Caspi, plus cuisine to delight the palate with White Night Bites. However, that’s just a taster of what is expected with more than 50 events to discover, participate in and enjoy.

White Night Ballarat’s Artistic Director Andrew Walsh AM has a pedigree of delivering major events across the globe through his company Accolade.art, including the very first White Night in Australia. However, he has also been responsible for many major global events that include the 2004 Athens Olympic Games opening and closing ceremonies (Executive Producer) and the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games (Executive Producer/Creative Director), Australia Day Spectacular from 2012 to 2014 (Creative Director/ Producer), the Australian Pavilion World Expo Dubai in 2020 and a thrilling and community embraced White Night Shepparton 2022, among many other notable events.

With expertise and experience, creativity and originality, Walsh and his team are preparing a night to remember and experiences to treasure.

White Night Ballarat will be held Saturday 1st June and it’s worth making the trip to this regional goldmining town for the unique experience of a White Night and the joy of simply exploring the beautiful town of Ballarat.
