For 25 years now, Professor Dr. Peter Zec has led the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen, and run the Red Dot Design Awards.
April 11th, 2016
Peter Zec took over the running of the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in 1991, and twenty-five years on, the Design Zentrum now boasts a range of international branch offices and has achieved popular renown with the coveted Red Dot award.
Before joining the Design Zentrum, Peter Zec served as managing director of the Bund Deutscher Graphik-Designer, and two life-time achievements are inextricably linked with the man’s name. One: the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen, which put Essen on the design map. And of course two: the Red Dot Awards.
In 2005, Peter Zec was named president of the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design. This saw him serving as the first German to lead the organisation. After 25 years at the head of the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen, Prof. Dr. Peter Zec is more actively involved in the design world than ever. Wearing multiple hats- CEO, author, publisher and host of the Red Dot galas, Zec’s presence in the design community is absolute. He is also much in demand as a consultant and speaker around the world, and we’re happy to celebrate this milestone 25 year event for the man.
