The convergence of Australian and Japanese botanical beauty comes to life in the newest offering from Materialised.
February 1st, 2025
Through the 60’s and 70’s, Florence Broadhurst was an iconic name in Australian design. A creative, entrepreneur, and trail blazer, Florence penned illustrations that covered walls and adorned fabrics in the homes of the world’s design set. Her vivid tapestries of landscapes and botanies were refined and glamorous, oscillating between the intricate and the dramatic and produced with unparalleled craftsmanship and innovative techniques for their time.
From one eminent Australian name to another, Materialised are dipping into Florence’s legendary archive with the Parkland Collection, an inspired new offering that celebrates the convergence of Australian and Japanese botanical beauty. Across a range of commercial textiles, wall covering, and window films, Materialised are bringing Florence’s tapestries to life once more, capturing the essence of her serene landscapes to infuse interiors with timeless sophistication and organic charm.
A symphony of botanical elegance
Tailored to meet the demands of discerning architects and designers, the Parkland Collection has been thoughtfully composed by Materialised’s in-house team of designers. In reimagining Florence’s visual anthology, the collection celebrates the convergence of Australian and Japanese botanical beauty, with each composition meticulously crafted to evoke emotion, harmony, and architectural finesse.
More than just botanical tableaus, each piece in the range tells its own story, playing with colour, scale, and form to transform walls, upholstery, and windows into captivating narratives. Compared to previous collections, Parkland’s colour palette evokes a sense of calmness, with a palette of hues that are rich, fresh, and artfully layered.
From the organic, tranquil colourways of “Mist & Gold” and “Eucalyptus & Rosewood”, to the lightness of “Azure & Beachstone”, and the rich depths of “Midnight & Earthen”, Materialised’s four new tonal options lend a contemporary, serene feel to Florence’s designs. Perfect for holistic healthcare spaces, to sumptuous hotel designs and everything in between, the Parkland Collection creates a beautiful reinterpretation of Florence’s own Australiana for commercial applications today.
A modern revival
As well as new colourways, the collection also re-introduces two designs from the past, with the beloved 4 Colour Palm and the Innocence Mini playing artfully on the pull of nostalgia.
Materialised have drawn the 4 Colour Palm closer together, moving from a linear to a more organic structure to enhancing its versatility and allow it to transition seamlessly between upholstery and decorative surfaces. Complementing the grandeur of larger patterns, Innocence Mini introduces a smaller-scale option designed for refined coordination. Perfect for layering, it balances bold statements with subtle elegance.
Additional designs such as Japanese Floral, Shadow Floral, Egrets, and Waterfall Garden now feature expanded colourways, offering richer depth and greater design possibilities.
Timeless artistry
Whether crafting opulent hospitality interiors, serene healthcare environments, or statement-making commercial spaces, the Parkland Collection brings a perfect fusion of art, nature, and functionality. The range of fit-for-purpose, high-performance, durable and flame retardant products infuses interiors with timeless elegance and botanic charm, harnessing the craftsmanship and service of Materialised in a collection that pays homage to the legacy of Florence Broadhurst.
