The Pedrali Palace of Wonders. This was what the Italian design house brought to the 2019 Milan design fair – and everyone was impressed.
This April saw the annual international design highlight of the Salone del Mobile in Milan. And for Italian design experts Pedrali, this was a chance to showcase their 2019 collection in a stand they dubbed the Palace of Wonders.
The #PedraliPalaceofWonders saw Pedrali unveil and display ten new collections, made from metal, wood, various plastics and upholstery. Each new launch comes from a meticulous research period, and through collaborations with a range of Italian and international designers.
The palace itself took the form of a majestic entrance that led through to a central courtyard, creating a monumental space that is refined and elegant, enhanced by the use of a neutral colour palette that helps create a warm, welcoming mood, reflecting the feel of contemporary buildings.
Suitably for a palace, the wonders within the new collections all poses a distinctive character and versatility that made it possible to create nine different sets, each styled by Elena Mora: a hotel restaurant, an urban restaurant, a living area, a library, a dining room, a bistro, a terrace, an office and a meeting room.
Soul Outdoor, designed by Eugeni Quitllet
Soul Outdoor is a new evolution of the original indoor Soul collection, made in bent wood and launched by Eugeni Quitllet in 2018. The inspiration is the same that the Catalan designer defines as “a link between the concrete and the abstract, between the real world and that of dreams, between past and future… the unspoiled state of creation”. Soul Outdoor is an armchair able to express an idea of uncontaminated and pure creativity, defined by its soul.
Héra, designed by Patrick Jouin
The humble simplicity of wood is the inspiration behind Héra, the new armchair designed by Patrick Jouin for Pedrali. In true respect for the material, Jouin chooses to preserve it in this pure design, presenting an extremely refined, fluid form. Available in ash or American walnut, this armchair embodies the concept of lightness, fusing it with comfort.
Folk, designed CMP Design
The Folk collection embodies the quest for simplicity, with a friendly character, warmth of ash wood and soft and compact dimensions. The power of proportions is clearly evident in the time-tested forms, of the collection, which includes a chair and a barstool in two heights, with a footrest.
Jamaica, designed by CMP Design
Inspired by Bar Jamaica in Milan’s Via Brera – a legendary hub for intellectuals and artists – the elegance of this chair speaks of an age in which art, technology and the imagination came together to give a human face to the aesthetics of machines, reimagining a peaceful world with creative sociability. The result is a modernist chair collection that reworks the classic forms of the past with a contemporary edge.
Elinor Table, designed by Claudio Bellini
The Elinor collection is the result of Pedrali collaborating with Claudio Bellini, leading designer of office furniture in the contemporary international scene. The Elinor table springs from a new perception of space, with the concept recalling the soft, curving lines of the namesake executive chair, conveying a refined yet contemporary image. The result is a product with premium aesthetic credentials that meets the needs of a constantly changing market.
Buddy Sofa, designed by Busetti Garuti Redaelli
The already successful Buddy collection has expanded to now include a two- and three-seater sofa. Designed for the living room at home, Pedrali has carefully ensured this sofa is equally suitable for waiting rooms, informal office meetings, or lounge areas in the contract and hospitality sector. While it still reflects the collection’s reassuring design, this sofa adds further comfort to the seat, thanks to a combination of four different densities of polyurethane foam.
Tribeca Lounge, designed by CMP Design
An outdoor icon, revisited through new materials, the Tribeca Lounge is the latest addition to the Tribeca collection. A lounge chair and a two-seater sofa are now available in this style, which like the chair, armchair and stool, evoke the comforting echoes of the past, offering a modern reinterpretation of the classic Sixties patio chairs made from steel and woven cord.
Remind, designed by Eugeni Quitllet
Evoking the soft sinuous curves of wooden chairs from the late nineteenth century, Remind’s organic silhouette recalls something new and modern. The result is an innovative polypropylene armchair where all elements are fully conceived to ensure total comfort and cosiness.
Tamara, designed by Basaglia Rota Nodari
Celebrating the 10th anniversary of its lighting collection Pedrali launches the Tamara lamp. Made from aluminium powder coated in various colours, this new suspension light takes inspiration from the shape of the headlights of early twentieth-century automobiles, paying homage to Tamara de Lempicka, modernist painter, icon of elegance and charm, who in her famous self-portrait is behind the wheel of a green Bugatti.
Arki-Table, designed Pedrali R&D
The adjustable Arki-Table has been designed and launched by Pedrali to meet the needs of flexibility and functionality of the modern workspace. Suitable for meeting rooms and workstations, this table is able to adapt to his users and their needs, making real the concept of smart and dynamic office.
