The Touch chair from ThinkingWorks fuses the classic elements of an office chair, with a pure functional design narrative and playful bursts of colour.
September 25th, 2015
An evolution of the original work chair concept, developed in collaboration with Jones + Partners London, the Touch chair is designed for use in short bursts of activity.
Infused with lightness, fluidity and hidden complexity, the Touch chair is constructed from both recycled and recyclable materials. The chair shell is a complex injection moulding that was carefully developed through many iterations, from card and paper models, CNC foam and fiberglass prototypes prior to investment in tooling. The cut-out in the shell is an important aspect of the design, not just for aesthetics, but in providing the right amount of flex for the sitter.
The Touch chair features a white polypropylene shell with a polished four star cast aluminium base with adjustable height and hollow castors. It is available in three different upholstery options, including bare shell, seat pad upholstered and seat and backrest upholstered.
