“PDT recently completed the international-standard Logan Metro Sports Centre – officially opened by Premier Anna Bligh on 11 September 2009.
“The Centre is home to the WNBL Logan Thunder ladies basketball team, who recently played their first home game of the season. One of the largest single sports complexes in Queensland, the Centre incorporates three indoor sports courts with retractable seating for 2000 spectators.
“On the ground floor, the reception is circled by an administration centre, gymnasium, kitchen and food service areas and changing rooms. The sports house on the upper level accommodates health specialists, multi-purpose rooms and a bar area.
“ESD features include double skinned skylights to maximise natural lighting, an auto shut-off lighting system, louvered windows to take advantage of natural breezes, together with sun shading to minimise cooling costs. The car parks contain bio-retention swales to filter runoff and a 100,000 litre rainwater tank is used for toilet flushing and irrigation.”
