Located in the busy shopping hub of Watthana in Bangkok, the experiential is on offer that encompasses not only the delights of coffee drinking but also the incomparable interior design of a roastery workplace and café.
PAGA Microroastery was created by taste space co and presents as an exciting contemporary multi-faceted workplace and café that is sleek and modern. The premise, a three-storey corner building, is a white monolith that radiates a calmness to the surrounding neighbourhood. The idea of PAGA Microroastery pays homage to the humble coffee bean and showcases its journey from the mountain where it is grown, through the processes of extracting the delightful brown liquid for micro specialty coffee.
There is a translucency to the design of the building with glass walls that surround the ground floor and provide passers-by with views of patrons sipping and chatting. The entrance is slanted at an angle and reinforces the perception of ‘something a little bit different’ and a large mountain stone and LED engraved shop sign help symbolises the story of PAGA.
Stepping inside, the interior is a vision of white and rounded furniture that adds warmth to the surrounds. A feature of the design is the generous size of the solid, and extended triangular coffee bar which allows baristas to serve customers with ease.
Upstairs on levels one and two is where business is conducted. The first floor accommodates the coffee roasting room, partially open to view the roasting machine at work; While the second level is utilised for coffee storage and a workshop space. Through the artistic design of the building and the proximity of the external wall to the internal façade, light casts shadows and patterns on the walls and provides an inspirational space for learning for workshop participants.
PAGA Microroastery shines like a diamond in the suburb it is situated and also provides outstanding coffee for a discerning clientele. Through bold and creative design this project is the perfect place to relax and unwind as well as learn about the process of coffee and enjoy the fruits of much labour.
