Danish furniture company HAY on its plans in Asia and Saturday in Design Singapore.
July 25th, 2011
If you were at Saturday in Design Singapore in May, you would likely have come upon the stunning About a Chair collection by Danish furniture company HAY.
Having already established its presence in Europe, HAY decided to make a strong move into Asia with the setting up of its regional headquarters in Singapore early this year. Just recently, it also announced its partnership with BW Furniture for the contract market, which extends beyond Singapore to Malaysia and Thailand.
About A Chair and T12
“We see Singapore as a perfect place to start for the Southeast Asia region… In our eyes Singapore is a role model for the surrounding countries when it comes to design and development,” says Mikael A. Poulsen, Manager of HAY Asia.
RU Chair
While HAY is currently available in markets such as Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea and Hong Kong, Poulsen says that one of the objectives in Singapore and in the region would be to expand the market but at the same time streamline its current retail and contract network.
Hee Dining Chair
The very first Saturday in Design in Singapore held recently was a timely platform to announce its presence here as well.
“Overall, as a first time event we found Saturday in Design Singapore to be good. We saw a great interest from people and at the same time got confirmation that our view about Singapore being a place of appreciation for design was correct.”
Colour Carpet
Apart from its partnership with BW Furniture for the contract market, HAY products are also currently being retailed in Singapore at Foundry Store.

And because good things should always be repeated, the Danish brand will also be at Saturday in Design Sydney in August! Represented by Corporate Culture, HAY will be launching About A Chair to the Australian market.
