Artyzen Hospitality Group has announced the Asia debut of citizenM and the global launch of Artyzen Habitat. The group has described the two hotel brands as “breakthroughs for the Asian hospitality industry,” with each one serving a specific market need.
Launched in the Netherlands in 2008, citizenM is designed to bring affordable luxury to the savvy traveller, and today can be found in many of the world’s key cities, including Amsterdam, London, Paris and New York.
Brand hallmarks include lobbies conceived as ‘living rooms’, where guests can work, rest or socialise, as well as non-traditional meeting rooms and self check-in. Rooms are compact but high on style and quality, and come with all the amenities and conveniences that guests would expect of a luxury hotel, such as floor to ceiling windows, free wifi, a large bed, rain shower, and a touch-screen MoodPad that controls the lighting, temperature, window shades, alarm and television.

Artyzen Habitat is, in part, a response to the Airbnb phenomenon. Targeted at both short stay and extended stay segments, the brand is aimed at seasoned and corporate travellers, as well as digitally savvy individuals who wish to seek out a personalised experience while on the road, and greater engagement with the social and cultural aspects of the city.

The brand focuses on delivering ‘home-like’ environments, with the living area forming the nucleus of the room, instead of having the room designed around the bed. The public areas are made up of active, efficient and social spaces that come together to form an ideal eco-system for dining, co-working, interacting and relaxing.
The two new flagship brands will be making their debut in Shanghai. Slated to open in 2017, citizenM Shanghai Hongqiao and Artyzen Habitat Hongqiao Shanghai – both owned by Artyzen Hospitality Group’s parent company Shun Tak Holdings Limited – will be co-located in the upcoming Shanghai MixC integrated project.
